SUPPORT DISCON CAUSES TO IMPACT & SAVE LIVES

In general, Disability & Sickle Cell Organization of Nigeria (DISCON) seeks your support, donation, sponsorship & partnership to Beat Back Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) in the country. You can get involved in various ways…

1. DONATE MEDICATION:

DISCON distributes routine prescriptive/ OTC drugs to SCD warriors at little or no cost and accepts donated medications, which can be of great help to victims of SCD who may be in need of them. Donations may come from Organizations and Individuals.

a) Organization (Profit & Nonprofit) Product Donations –
We accept products from Pharmaceutical companies/ medical manufacturers and any organizations for donation to needy Sickle Cell patients.

b) Make An Individual Product Donation –
Individuals with surplus medical drugs or touched to do so can donate to DISCON as well to help needy Sickle Cell Warriors.

You can donate drugs such as: Folic Acid// Multivitamins (non-iron)// B Complex// Anti-Malaria (Proguanil)// Penicilin V (Antibiotic)// Hydroxyurea// Solamin// Nicotan// Dioscovite// Niprisan// Vitamin E// Cellgivity// Evenflo// Endari// Septrin Tablets// Anagelsics// and any other approved drugs.

2. DONATE EQUIPMENT/ SUPPLIES:

In DISCON’s bid to assuage the condition of Sickle Cell victims living with Disabilities as a result of the disorder and PWD generally who may not be SCD victims, we accept donated assistive devices, equipment and supplies to support their improved living.

They may be as follow: Crutches, wheelchairs, walking sticks, canes for mobility support.

Hearing aids and batteries for mild and severe hearing impairment.

Eye glasses, eyes drops, visual aids, magnifying devices for the visually impaired.

Other supplies may include: Dressings – gauze pads/rolls, elastic, bandages, wound dressings, dressing kits, medical tape, bandages, Mosquito bed nets, etal.

Needles/Syringes – all types and varieties, sharps disposal containers…

If you have something that you think we may need or can use, please check the guidelines below and contact us.

GUIDELINE: The donated medication must be in the manufacturer’s original, factory sealed container, packet or casing. This means they must be unopened with the seal intact.

The expiration date should be one year or above from the date of donation.

The medication must have been stored properly according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Devices must fully be operational without need of repairs. They should include necessary accessories, cables, etc.

3. FUND DONATION:

Funding is crucial as it would help us cover our Awareness Programs, Sensitization Tours, Promotional Materials, Sickle Cell Club/ Community Meetings, Hospital Visitations to Indisposed warriors, Medical Aids/Dispensation of Drugs, Genotype Screening/Diagnosis, Health Management, Capacity Building, Administration, Monitoring and Evaluation for Sickle Cell Disorder.

Well meaning people like you can give what you can to any of our causes and get updates about how your money is put to work. No amount donated is deemed inconsequential. One-time or recurring donations to DISCON helps support our work, meet our projects and achieve our objectives. Foreign donations are accepted.

4. SPONSOR AN EVENT or PROGRAMME:

On a yearly basis, DISCON will be putting together sensitization, advocacy & healthcare events (workshops, seminars, symposiums, campaigns,, etc) to create awareness to SCD and improve the quality of life of victims. These will open up sponsorship avenues for organizations to touch lives as way to fulfil CSR (Corporate Social Responsibilities) or to gain publicity for a noble cause, which in turn would generate goodwill, brand visibility, loyalty and boost the bottom line.

*And much more we are already doing/ executing and plan to do, which are in the pipeline.
