TANKER FIRE: Repairs Ongoing On Festac Link Bridge
Residents of Festac Town in Amuwo Odofin LGA can now heave a sigh of relief as the closed section of the Festac link bridge damaged by fire is already under repairs.
The closure of a part of the bridge which was undertaken for precautionary reasons has been causing traffic gridlock and vehicular hardship for residents of Festac Town and other motorists plying the route daily to connect with Apple Junction, Apapa, Okota, Oshodi-Expressway and adjoining axis, and vice versa.
Following complaints and pleas to the Lagos State Government, work has begun in earnest on the affected section of the bridge for a couple of weeks now by the CCECC Construction Company.
To get a progress report of the ongoing works, Mr. Tayo Faloye with his GRANDSCOPE Company Crew visited the bridge site and was impressed with the construction situation. He had a chat with workers on site and asked the CCECC boss, a Chinese national, when the job would be completed. “Soon”, he responded in inarticulate English, smiling gleefully.
While thanking Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for his listening ears on the commencement of rehabilitation of the bridge, Mr. Faloye wishes to appeal to necessary authorities as the LASTMA, Lagos State Ministry of Works, Amuwo Odofin Local Council and the CCECC to ensure a regular free flow of traffic to alleviate the sufferings of commuters and see to the speedy completion of the ongoing repairs.
